Top 5 Female TV Morning Show Hosts In Ghana


A Television HOST is someone in the professional  sense who is exposed in the field of Media. Their profile centers on gathering , reporting and discussing current news and issues. One can look for a bright career in the field as a news anchor, reporter, editor, correspondent and producer. The main responsibility of a host is to present information in an accurate and balanced way and interact assiduously with their panelists as well as involving their viewers.
The success of  these morning show female journalists lies in their manner of presenting, directing, editing and producing material for broadcast.

1.Serwaa Kobi Hemaa Osisiadan-Bekoe

Ohemaa Osisiadan as she is known  is the only female Broadcast Journalist and TV host in the Television industry who can run and single-handedly perform all the  chain of sectors in the broadcast industry.
A product of Sunyani Secondary School where she attained her Secondary School education and went on to St. Louis College of Education in Kumasi where she also attained a Certificate “A” 3 Year Post Secondary. Embarking on the path of media relations, she was voted the SRC President of the School in 2003. 
After four years of teaching Mathematics and Science she enrolled into Regent University College of Science and Technology, (RUCST) in Accra-Ghana where she obtained a Bachelors degree of Science in Accounting and Information system and started her first television programme ‘Ghana’s Pride’ while doing her first degree. 
In the face of academic pressures, she still managed to produce ‘Ghana’s Pride’, which has clocked over two hundred episodes within a period of six years. Her second television programme, ‘Ohemaa Dwaso’, which has over ninety episodes  was produced , directed and presented by her. Her thirst for knowledge continually progressed, again solidifying her position as a lifelong learner. Her further advancement merited her with an MBA certificate in Corporate Strategy and Economic policy, from the Maastricht School of Management, Netherlands.
With 9 solid years of experience, she has produced content for  Television stations such as TV Africa , Ghana Television, Multi TV, Light Television and Homebase Television. She is an independent Producer who pushes her own publicity, markets and promotes all her content
Currently the only Female  host of  the Homebase TV’s  (HBTV) ‘Eboboba’ show, Her ability to multi-task and perform ambidextrously is evidential as she is a Presenter, Producer, Marketer, Programmer, Concept Developer, Leader(Manageress), Camera director and Video editing director . 
Her professional experience at the television station is her ability to develop strategic operating plans that reflect the longer-term objectives and priorities established by the board and ensures the Company is appropriately organized and staffed, hire and terminate staff as necessary to enable Homebase Television to achieve the approved strategy, communicates effectively with shareholders, employees, Government authorities, other stakeholders and the public. She also implements policies, procedures and internal controls and ensures that the Directors are properly informed and that sufficient information is provided to the Board to enable the Directors to form appropriate judgments.
Contrary to the believe that television producers can only come from media institutions, Ohemaa Osisiadan has proven that with the right level of interest and entrepreneurial skills, individuals who are willing to learn on the job and put in a lot of hard work can equally excel.
She also have to her credit about thirty-five episodes of a health program produced,directed and presented by her dubbed ‘Xclusive to Cancer
She is well versed in psychology which puts her on the high profile with her human related interactions and associations, Corporate legal requirements, formulates and communicates Corporate strategies and policies, Marketing strategies and initiatives, Customer Care training programs, Project management, risk assessment, Cost reduction, Scouts for new business opportunities within target markets and recommends new product development, Manages and coordinates marketing, advertising and promotional activities, develops and implements marketing and communication plans and projects for new and existing services, offers support to a company's needs and influence public opinion when necessary, conducts researches to identify the priorities and expectations of a company's shareholders.
The TV presenter and producer also has expertise in answering queries from the media, stakeholders or other organizations relating to business practices, Editing in-house company magazines, preparing speeches for senior executives and collating material to produce annual reports, Implements policies, procedures and internal controls and Microsoft Application suite.
Known as  “Ghana’s Pride” and the “Queen of trade’ she is a  woman who’s passionate about portaying Africa and as such she  maintains  a constant brand  of projecting African values even in her style of dressing, by wearing headgear and ahenema consistently on air for the past nine years.As a woman with a passion for African products, she has a brand name and boutique called Afrikan Palace. Afrikan Palace design costume, shoes and sandals and everything with an African touch.
She is  also an event organiser and have organised a number of successful events such as Brong Ahafo at 50, St. Louis College of Education at 50 and was the events Organizer of the first Graduation Ceremony of the school and have also contributed to many other events.  Ohemaa Osisiadan is currently the director of Television for Homebase TV.

2.Betty Baisiwa Dowuona-Hammond


Baisiwa Dowuona-Hammond is also one of the hardworking women in the media industry , she is an entrepreneur and a humanitarian who owns the PUMPKIN foundation.
The Pumpkins Foundation mobilizes funds to support children in need, their families and the communities in which they live…through HEALTH, EDUCATION & BASIC NEEDS. The foundation is currently working on empowering children to begin to feel responsible for their own future…
#KidsHelpingKids with support from their families.
She is a product of  the Regent University College of Science and Technology gaining a degree in Human resource Management. She has been a broadcast Journalist for top TV stations like TV3 Ghana Limited years for more than six  years.
Currently  the  female  morning show diva on GHone TV , she  airs the show  GH Today with  the support from  Kafui Dey,
As a  significant pair, they both bring to the show years of mainstream goodwill, which  makes them one of the best TV pair hosts in Ghana.




 3. Frema Ashkar



Frema Ashkar is a media practitioner and a broadcast journalist with years of experience in news reporting and anchoring.
She was the first female to introduce entertainment  segment in the TV3 prime time news as the head of the entertainment desk. Her role as the assignments editor at etvghana(2011-2013) presented her with the platform to cause a change in the lives of many Ghanaians like the Melcom Disaster victims.
Frema Ashkar is a graduate of the University of Ghana gaining knowledge and a degree in Fine Arts.She furthered her education in that same University attaining a Mastery Art Certificate in International Relation and Diplomacy.
She had really mastered in the media industry circulating herself through the various Television stations in Ghana in recent years.
Currently the host of Metro Tv morning Show ‘Good Morning Ghana’, She is also a business minded woman who is  into brand endorsements and hosting of high profile events.
She believes that indeed Ghana is the gateway to Africa and Africa, the hope of the world.
For this reason She challenges herself as the PR Manager for HOPE City ltd, (June 2013 to date) to bring change to Ghana and Africa by bringing to fruition the audacious $10 billion HOPE City Project which will give a new meaning to ICT in Africa.

4.Kokui Selormey


Kokui Selormey brings delight to the Viasat 1 morning show together with her co-host Patrice Amegashie.
She began co-hosting the Viasat 1 Morning Show, ‘This Morning’, in August, 2012. She also hosts Classic Citi, a weekly, classical music radio show on Accra-based station 97.3 Citi FM.
What you might not know about this beautiful TV host is that she is also an avid singer whose melodious voice  will always hold you  spellbound,
She had her degree in Music and Theatre at the Spelman College in Atlanta, Georgia in the US  and moved to New England Conservatory of Music [NEC] in Boston, Massachusetts.
Despite her love for music, at a point in time, Kokui decided to switch to television programming and even before that, she had researched into Ghana’s entertainment industry and had realized that there was a huge opportunity in that sector.
She did some additional studies at the Allen Academy in Texas prior to applying to university. While at Allen, she  joined the school choir to fulfil her extra-curricular activities requirement. On completion of her education, she decided to come back home.
She organized and featured in several recent concerts of classical music in Accra to support various charitable entities including the Citi FM Easter Orphan Fund, the AVA Foundation for Street Children and the Infanta Malaria Foundation in their goal of acquiring a mobile clinic to be used in rural areas of Ghana. In the near future, Kokui plans to embark on a new musical project with a fusion of African traditional music and her unique singing style.

5. Nana Yaa Brefo


Nana Yaa Brefo is a broadcast journalist, a TV host and  a woman activist at Adom TV who believes in self motivation,
She is an award winning broadcast journalist with more than five years of experience in the field. Have experience in programming, editing, reporting and anchoring weekly news. Possess excellent communication and presentation skills,Good research and documentation skills, Excellent verbal and written communication skills,Good organizational and presentation skills, Sound technical knowledge
She is a free spirited woman who exhibits a good sense of humor as a co-host in her morning show, BADWAM at Adom TV.
BADWAM is a typical Ghanaian talk show which reflects on different issues and current affairs in Ghana.
She is a past student of the Fijai Senior high School, Sekondi in the Western Region and also a  proud product of Ghana Institute of Journalism gaining Knowledge and a Diploma certificate in Journalism,
She furthered her education  to a Mastery level attaining a  Bachelor of Art certificate in Public Relation.
Nana Yaa Brefo has been working with the Mutimedia Group Limited, from 2012 till date and has proven vibrant and active in her endeavour aas a morning host queen.
Showing competence in all  endeavours, she had stand tall during last years (2015)  RTP awards as the 2nd Best TV presenter in Ghana.
