A broadcast journalist with
Kumasi-based Ashh FM, Dasebre Adjei Dwamena is
reported missing since December
7, 2016.
Neither his employees nor family members knows his whereabout.
It is not immediately known if the journalist has been abducted or
was involved in accident but sources at the station claim on the day of
the election, he
is said to have gone to his home town, Akyeremade near Kokofu in the Bekwai
Constituency to cast his vote on December 7, 2016.
After voting on December 7, he sent through some reports to
Ashh FM until about 3pm that day when all efforts by the radio station to reach
him on phone proved futile.
The last time he was seen on WhatsApp
was December 7 at 6.13am with the Status post: “I am proud of myself and am
very grateful to God for making me who I am”.
Management of Ashh fm has
officially reported the matter to the police and the Ashanti Regional Police
Command has commenced investigations into the matter and mounted a search for
him.
The Ashanti Regional branch of the Ghana Journalist Association (GJA) is
yet to be officially informed of the disappearance.
However, the Society of
Adventists in Media, Ghana (SAM) which Dasebre has been a member has described
news of the dispearance as “unwavering” and “unfortunate” yet, hopeful the
search for him will yield positive results.
